KUSHT NIYANTRAN EVUM UNMOOLAN SAMITI (KNEUS) is a well-established and registered voluntary organization dedicated to addressing critical healthcare challenges, particularly Leprosy, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and various communicable diseases in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi for nearly three decades. The organization's journey has been marked by significant milestones, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to public health.

In the year 1987, KNEUS initiated its impactful work by venturing into 57 leprosy colonies situated in Western Uttar Pradesh, where it provided essential care and treatment to over 5,000 individuals afflicted by leprosy. Recognizing the need for more extensive outreach, KNEUS expanded its efforts in 1992 to encompass villages and cities. This expansion was executed through meticulous house-to-house surveys and comprehensive health education programs, allowing for the identification and treatment of patients in a proactive manner. This dedication and thorough approach are evident from the remarkable statistic of nearly 49,720 medical interventions performed for those affected by leprosy.

KNEUS's commitment to serving the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations did not stop at leprosy alone. In 2003, they seamlessly integrated their leprosy-focused services into general healthcare, expanding their mission to include Tuberculosis. This strategic shift allowed them to address a broader spectrum of health concerns, demonstrating their adaptability and dedication to evolving healthcare needs.

Furthermore, in 2003, KNEUS took on a significant role by establishing nine Directly Observed Treatment Centers (DMCs) as part of the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP). These centers were strategically placed in urban slums and remote areas to ensure access to healthcare for underserved communities. This initiative was undertaken in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private providers, and public-private partnerships (PPPs).

KNEUS's commitment to Tuberculosis control and patient care was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) on behalf of the District Health Society (DHS) on October 29, 2003. Since then, the organization has made a significant impact, registering and treating an impressive total of 27,233 Tuberculosis patients in colonies and villages until December 2017.
